Monday, November 12th, 2018
Nissan warning lights

There is no doubt that vehicles have made it easier to get from point A to point B. But what happens when an unfamiliar light appears on your vehicle’s dashboard before you arrive at your destination? Not only is it extremely beneficial for drivers to understand what the different symbols on their vehicle’s dashboard means, but to also understand what the color of the symbol indicates. Below is a list of Nissan’s warning lights and their meanings.

Blue, White and/or green

Symbols on your vehicle’s dashboard can appear as blue, white or green depending on the year your vehicle was produced. Symbols that appear in these colors indicate that a common feature is turned on, and functions as a reminder to drivers to turn it off. Common features include turn signals, cruise control and headlights.

Yellow

Symbols that appear with a yellow light indicates that although there is a malfunction in the vehicle, it is not dangerous for drivers to operate it. For example, the appearance of a yellow ABS symbol indicates that a safety system was triggered, but drivers should operate their vehicle more carefully.

Red

Red lights indicate that something is not only wrong with your vehicle, but that it can also be dangerous for drivers to continue operating it. When red symbols appear on the dashboard, drivers should immediately pull over and check their vehicle’s manual to figure out how to fix the dangerous issue.

It is necessary for drivers to understand the meaning behind the lights and symbols that appear on their dashboard. Not only does it allow drivers to continuously maintain their vehicle’s condition, but it also gives insight into potentially dangerous operating situations for drivers.

2019 Nissan Altima Review: More Compelling Than Ever

Thursday, October 25th, 2018
2019 Nissan Altima Review

The Nissan Altima, since its inauguration into the US market in 1992, has been known as one of the most affordable midsize sedans. The model itself has seen many rounds of continuous improvement, yet it still relies on its foundational qualities. Though the 2019 model varies far from its original voyage, it still stays true to the characteristics of Altima’s past.

The 2019 Altima is the first model to offer optional all-wheel drive. Adding AWD to the base, 2.5-liter engine comes with a $1,350 premium. The 2.5-liter engine, though it’s considered “base,” has been redeveloped by Nissan, with over 80 percent of the engine’s parts being new. Because of this upgrade, both power and fuel efficiency increase. The 2.5-liter engine creates 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, combined with a fuel economy rating of 32 miles per gallon.

The Altima is also offered with a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo I4 engine that produces 248 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Nissan estimates the VC-Turbo will return 29 mpg combined. The VC-Turbo engine is offered as a $4,050 upgrade on the SR model or as an $3,000 upgrade on the top-level Platinum. Regardless of model, each Altima comes with a continuously variable transmission. The transmission does a terrific job modeling an automatic gearbox, only with simulated gear changes.

Regardless of which Altima you choose, you’ll receive an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is available on higher trims. Although the 2019 model doesn’t offer Wi-Fi hotspot, a popular feature amongst modern cars, it does however provide two modern USB Type-C ports, as well as two normal USB Type-A connectors.

On the outside, the 2019 Altima is longer, lower and wider than previous models. Nissan confirmed the design was heavily influenced by the company’s VMotion 2.0 concept, originally displayed at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Though it’s been reduced since the original showing, it still retains the Altima’s front fascia and LED lighting. Because the Altima has a longer wheelbase, there’s more room for passengers. In the back, the Altima offers 15.4 cubic feet of trunk space, which is plenty considering its size.

Nissan’s New Standard Safety Tech

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018
Nissan Safety Tech

Nissan, in an attempt to help reduce and prevent common types of collisions, is committed to offering safety features that are typically expensive optional extras in all best-selling models by 2021. Nissan is targeting many different safety extras, including, lane keeping assists, blind spot detection and forward collision warnings. Each of these traditional extras will be offered as standard equipment.

Nissan’s North American Chairman, Denis Le Vot, stated, regarding the new safety plan, “Our philosophy is to bring Nissan intelligent mobility technologies to market in our most popular and affordable vehicles.” In theory, the commitment to safety is a fantastic strategy, not only from a strategic marketing strategy. Family’s tend to continually value safety when buying newer vehicles and by committing to continuous safety improvement, Nissan cements itself as a global partner in keeping drivers and vehicles safe. Le Vot later added, “Safety Shield 360 combines six advanced systems to give models like Altima and Rogue a class-leading package of technologies that can improve safety and the overall driving experience for Nissan owners.”

Nissan Safety Shield 360 features many safety technologies including front, rear and side sensors, including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, which uses forward-facing radar and camera technology to track vehicles and pedestrians and potentially give audible and visual warnings. Applying the brakes to help avoid or reduce the severity of frontal collisions is also an added feature. Lane departure warnings alert drivers when they drift between lanes, also with audible and visual cues. High beam assist automatically switches headlights to low beam when a vehicle is approaching, as well as shifting back when that vehicle passes. Nissan is also pledging to include side sensing technologies including blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert, which warns drivers about approaching vehicles when in reverse. And finally, rear automatic braking also helps the driver detect stationary objects when backing up and has the potential to apply the brakes.

2018 Nissan Rogue Sport Review: Making Utility More Nimble

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018
2018 Nissan Rogue Sport review

The new version of Nissan’s top-selling vehicle is now available at Hoffman Estates Nissan dealer lots: The Nissan Rogue Sport reigns supreme as the top-selling passenger vehicle in America and now the 2018 model is here and ready for you.

“The new Rogue Sport is a perfect addition to the red hot Rogue lineup,” Michael Bunce, vice president of product planning for Nissan North America Inc., said in a recent statement. “With Rogue Sport’s slightly smaller dimensions and sporty maneuverability, it’s ideal for singles or couples without kids–or empty nesters–who want a sportier vehicle and can live with a little less cargo capacity than the current Rogue offers.”

The Rogue Sport may be slightly scaled down in size, but it more than makes up for its dimensions with its larger-than-life capabilities. A favorite among Nissan dealers, fans, critics, and the staff at Woodfield Nissan, the new Nissan Rogue Sport’s compact size may be just what you’re looking for. The vehicle is one foot shorter and five inches lower than the Rogue and features a slightly smaller passenger cabin–96 cubic feet of volume in the Sport compared to 106 cubic feet for the standard Rogue.

“It gives consumers another option,” Bunce said. “If they think the Rogue is just a little too big for them, often they get into the Rogue Sport and it’s just perfect.”

The vehicle’s smaller size is certainly an advantage when it comes to powertrain capabilities–out of all of our current Nissan models for sale, the Nissan Rogue Sport is the zippiest. The vehicle utilizes a smaller four-cylinder engine for a more efficient output. The Sport comes standard with a 2.0-liter 141-horsepower engine compared to the 2.5-liter 170-horsepower four-cylinder in the Rogue. The Sport is available with either front- or all-wheel drive.

Noted for its maneuverability and smooth ride, the Nissan Rogue Sport is the perfect marriage of style and compact power. But the vehicle also comes with a range of awesome tech and safety enhancements, including NissanConnect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, a Standard Motion-Activated Liftgate, standard Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Lane Intervention, and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.

The new Rogue Sport is even available with a fresh new exterior package: The Midnight Edition Package. Opt for this special appearance package and you’ll get black outside mirror caps, black front and rear fascia accents, a black V-motion grille, black roof rails, black 17-inch SV aluminum alloy wheels and more.

Visit us at Woodfield Nissan today to check out the 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport or to view our current 2019 Nissan cars for sale. Take the new Rogue Sport out for a test drive while new models are still available on our lot.

To kick it off, pun intended, the 2018 Kicks boasts substance and style, impressive technology features, and substantial fuel economy and value – 31 miles per gallon city and 36 miler per gallon highway. The all-new Kicks is styled with a more conservative mindset, one that avoids competitor landscapes that often possess bulky, awkward skins. The possibilities seem endless, giving consumers the opportunity to customize their model to fit their personality and style.

On the inside, Kick’s is relatively straightforward, displaying a “Gliding Wing” dashboard design that is controlled by a 7.0-inch full-color housing, possessing a dynamic infotainment system. The audio on the inside matches the integrity and makeup of the outside, as the Kicks can be upgraded to the SR Premium Package that includes the new class-exclusive Bose Personal Plus sound system with a pair of lightweight 2.5-inch Bose Ultra near field neodymium speakers. Wow is right; the Kicks will blow you away.

Nissan Receives Several Honors in 2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study

Friday, September 14th, 2018
2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study

In the 2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), Nissan topped three vehicle segments and finished in the top three in two others. For the uninitiated, the JD Power IQS is the industry benchmark for new vehicle quality in the US. The Nissan brand, which generally holds itself to high standards regarding the quality study, improved by eight problems per hundred vehicles (PP100) to an overall average of 85 PP100 – the best performance of all non-luxury Japanese brands. The awards are based on feedback of verified car owners who have owned or leased their new car for 90 days. The rating itself focuses on problems experienced by the owners and has shown to be a good indicator of long-term durability. As Nissan knows, the fewer the problems, the higher the score.

Specific Nissan models did very well during the yearly review; the 2018 Nissan Frontier was the top-rated midsize pickup for the third consecutive year. The Nissan Maxima won large car honors with a score of 57 PP100, the second highest score of any vehicle in the entire study. The Nissan Altima, one of the most popular midsize vehicles, scored sixth among all vehicles, an 18-point improvement from 2017. The improvement can directly be related to Nissan’s continuous model for improvement, especially in quality.

A relatively new model, the completely electric Nissan Leaf, also improved from the 2017 survey, displaying a 17-point improvement. Mark Swanson, the companies Vice President of Total Customer Satisfaction, said regarding the awards, “Nissan’s JD Power IQS results for 2018 are encouraging because they reflect customer satisfaction directly from the people who buy and lease our vehicles.” He later mentioned Nissan’s ongoing efforts of engineering, R&D, Quality and Manufacturing teams located around the world. Nissan’s dedication to quality improvement is extremely evident in all the awards and vehicles selected.

In April of 2017, Nissan announced a MOVE initiative through 2022, a six-year plan targeting thirty percent increase in revenue. The initiative seems more possible with each IQS vehicle survey, as Nissan constantly boasts vehicle improvements. The movement also vows to increase output of electric vehicles, especially since the Leaf is the best-selling electric vehicle ever.
