2018 Nissan Rogue Sport review

The new version of Nissan’s top-selling vehicle is now available at Hoffman Estates Nissan dealer lots: The Nissan Rogue Sport reigns supreme as the top-selling passenger vehicle in America and now the 2018 model is here and ready for you.

“The new Rogue Sport is a perfect addition to the red hot Rogue lineup,” Michael Bunce, vice president of product planning for Nissan North America Inc., said in a recent statement. “With Rogue Sport’s slightly smaller dimensions and sporty maneuverability, it’s ideal for singles or couples without kids–or empty nesters–who want a sportier vehicle and can live with a little less cargo capacity than the current Rogue offers.”

The Rogue Sport may be slightly scaled down in size, but it more than makes up for its dimensions with its larger-than-life capabilities. A favorite among Nissan dealers, fans, critics, and the staff at Woodfield Nissan, the new Nissan Rogue Sport’s compact size may be just what you’re looking for. The vehicle is one foot shorter and five inches lower than the Rogue and features a slightly smaller passenger cabin–96 cubic feet of volume in the Sport compared to 106 cubic feet for the standard Rogue.

“It gives consumers another option,” Bunce said. “If they think the Rogue is just a little too big for them, often they get into the Rogue Sport and it’s just perfect.”

The vehicle’s smaller size is certainly an advantage when it comes to powertrain capabilities–out of all of our current Nissan models for sale, the Nissan Rogue Sport is the zippiest. The vehicle utilizes a smaller four-cylinder engine for a more efficient output. The Sport comes standard with a 2.0-liter 141-horsepower engine compared to the 2.5-liter 170-horsepower four-cylinder in the Rogue. The Sport is available with either front- or all-wheel drive.

Noted for its maneuverability and smooth ride, the Nissan Rogue Sport is the perfect marriage of style and compact power. But the vehicle also comes with a range of awesome tech and safety enhancements, including NissanConnect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, a Standard Motion-Activated Liftgate, standard Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Lane Intervention, and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.

The new Rogue Sport is even available with a fresh new exterior package: The Midnight Edition Package. Opt for this special appearance package and you’ll get black outside mirror caps, black front and rear fascia accents, a black V-motion grille, black roof rails, black 17-inch SV aluminum alloy wheels and more.

Nissan Kicks

The 2018 Nissan Kicks CUV is ready to capture attention and redefine what it means to be a vehicle in an urban landscape. The vehicle itself is aimed at interesting a new age of drivers, gravitating to compact vehicles that handle well in high intensity environments. The compact crossover captures attention when its on the road, especially with its bold two-tone color combinations. Nissan is committed to snagging a piece of the compact crossover market, one that is growing more with every model released. And as the newest member in this fast growing market, it becomes the sixth member of the crossover lineup, belonging to Nissan. Nissan’s lineup already features two best-selling crossovers, the Rogue and Rogue Sport CUV. Though the Kicks is apart of this highlight filled Nissan family, its undeniably different in comparison.

To kick it off, pun intended, the 2018 Kicks boasts substance and style, impressive technology features, and substantial fuel economy and value – 31 miles per gallon city and 36 miler per gallon highway. The all-new Kicks is styled with a more conservative mindset, one that avoids competitor landscapes that often possess bulky, awkward skins. The Kicks is attractive, with a high stance and incredibly sharp angles. It combines emotion with practicality due to its blends of bold wheel arch fenders with familiar Nissan design features, including a V-motion grille, boomerang headlights and taillights, and floating roof with “wrap-around visor” look.

Continuing with exterior features, the Kicks’ available features include standard Intelligent Auto Headlights (I-AH) and available LED low beam headlights with LED signature accents. The Kicks is also available in seven exterior colors, plus five two-tone combinations. The possibilities seem endless, giving consumers the opportunity to customize their model to fit their personality and style.

On the inside, Kick’s is relatively straightforward, displaying a “Gliding Wing” dashboard design that is controlled by a 7.0-inch full-color housing, possessing a dynamic infotainment system. The audio on the inside matches the integrity and makeup of the outside, as the Kicks can be upgraded to the SR Premium Package that includes the new class-exclusive Bose Personal Plus sound system with a pair of lightweight 2.5-inch Bose Ultra near field neodymium speakers. Wow is right; the Kicks will blow you away.

Though car owners are becoming more and more modern in style and taste, safety, security and driver convenience features are still very important. Lucky for them, the Nissan Kicks pays attention to each category. Automatic emergency braking (AEB) is standard on all grade levels. It’s the only vehicle to offer AEB for under $18,000. It also contains seven air bags and a Rearview monitor. Kicks SV and Kicks SR also add Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The 2018 Nissan Kicks is offered in three models – Kicks S, Kicks SV and Kicks SR. Kick’s exceptional value is present throughout the entire model, from its modern design to its intelligent safety features.

Nissan Receives Several Honors in 2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study

2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study

In the 2018 JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), Nissan topped three vehicle segments and finished in the top three in two others. For the uninitiated, the JD Power IQS is the industry benchmark for new vehicle quality in the US. The Nissan brand, which generally holds itself to high standards regarding the quality study, improved by eight problems per hundred vehicles (PP100) to an overall average of 85 PP100 – the best performance of all non-luxury Japanese brands. The awards are based on feedback of verified car owners who have owned or leased their new car for 90 days. The rating itself focuses on problems experienced by the owners and has shown to be a good indicator of long-term durability. As Nissan knows, the fewer the problems, the higher the score.

Specific Nissan models did very well during the yearly review; the 2018 Nissan Frontier was the top-rated midsize pickup for the third consecutive year. The Nissan Maxima won large car honors with a score of 57 PP100, the second highest score of any vehicle in the entire study. The Nissan Altima, one of the most popular midsize vehicles, scored sixth among all vehicles, an 18-point improvement from 2017. The improvement can directly be related to Nissan’s continuous model for improvement, especially in quality.

A relatively new model, the completely electric Nissan Leaf, also improved from the 2017 survey, displaying a 17-point improvement. Mark Swanson, the companies Vice President of Total Customer Satisfaction, said regarding the awards, “Nissan’s JD Power IQS results for 2018 are encouraging because they reflect customer satisfaction directly from the people who buy and lease our vehicles.” He later mentioned Nissan’s ongoing efforts of engineering, R&D, Quality and Manufacturing teams located around the world. Nissan’s dedication to quality improvement is extremely evident in all the awards and vehicles selected.

In April of 2017, Nissan announced a MOVE initiative through 2022, a six-year plan targeting thirty percent increase in revenue. The initiative seems more possible with each IQS vehicle survey, as Nissan constantly boasts vehicle improvements. The movement also vows to increase output of electric vehicles, especially since the Leaf is the best-selling electric vehicle ever.

Even if they don’t update a lot on their vehicles, most automakers update technology quite frequently. The 2019 Nissan Sentra is getting a few updates when it comes to the technology that it offers.

According to Roadshow, “Nissan announced Wednesday that the 2019 Sentra is now on sale at dealers. The most notable year-over-year upgrade is the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to every Sentra trim, with the exception of the bare-bones S trim.”

That basic Nissan Sentra S trim starts off at a very affordable $17,790. The next trim is the SV, and this option starts out at $19,090. The SV gives you features like a keyless ignition, two USB ports, automatic climate control, and, of course, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Roadshow tells us about the SR trim, “Move up to the sportier SR trim and you get LED headlights, a rear spoiler, fog lights, larger alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, heated cloth front seats and adaptive cruise control. This is the first Sentra trim to cross the $20,000 threshold, coming in at $20,590.”

The final trim for the 2019 Nissan Sentra is the SL. The SL trim adds luxury features like leather seats, a moonroof, a Bose premium eight-speaker audio system, blind-spot monitoring, and more. This trim level comes in at a price of $23,020.
