2017.5 Nissan Rogue Sport near Arlington Heights ILView Inventory
First appearing in 2008, the Rogue is Nissan’s compact crossover offering—with the all-weather capability and elevated ground clearance of an SUV and the fuel efficiency and maneuverability of a four-door sedan. The Nissan Rogue has always stood out from most of the pack with its bold styling. And with the 2017 model year, Nissan introduced a more sports-oriented—albeit slightly tinnier—version aptly named the Rogue Sport. Midway through its debut model year, Nissan made some significant changes, thus dubbing the new version “2017.5.”
Riding on 16-inch steel wheels, the 2017.5 Nissan Rogue Sport has halogen headlights with LED daytime running lamps to increase visibility to others while driving. Power side mirrors flank the front doors, and a rear spoiler helps enhance aerodynamic performance. Joining the spoiler in enforcing the racing-style aesthetics of the Rogue Sport are black wheel arch moldings and rocker panels.
Seating up to five people with two rows of seats, the 2017.5 Nissan Rogue Sport offers a passenger volume of 96 cubic feet. With the 60/40 split-folding rear bench-style seat, you can expand cargo space from the tailgate into the cabin. Front seating consists of a 6-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat and a 4-way manually-adjustable passenger seat. For infotainment, the Rogue Sport has a four-speaker audio system that includes an AM/FM radio tuner, a single-disc CD player with MP3 and WMA playback capability, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack for connecting mobile devices, and a 5-inch color display. Other standard comfort and convenience features on the Rogue Sport include cruise control, a 4.3-inch vehicle-information display screen (Advanced Drive-Assist Display), Siri Eyes Free voice-recognition technology, and hands-free text messaging ability.
The new 2017.7 variant is powered by the MR20DD, which is a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that pumps out 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. Hooked up to the engine is a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which allows for a smoother driving feel and increased efficiency, since it does not use the energy-consuming gear shifting mechanism of traditional gearboxes. Included with the CVT are manual shift mode to simulate shifting gears on demand and an Eco Mode for shutting down less essential powertrain functions to conserve energy (and thus boost gas mileage). Bumps on the road are absorbed by a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension with stabilizer bars on both ends. And the vehicle uses electric power steering with Sport Mode for the choice of a firmer, tighter ride.
The 2017.5 Nissan Rogue Sport relies on two front impact airbags, two side impact airbags, and two side curtain airbags for cushioning and restraint when there’s a collision. Vented disc brakes are on every wheel to keep stopping distance short. Accompanying the disc brakes are an anti-lock braking system for preventing the wheels from locking up when suddenly pressing the brake pedal, electronic brake-force distribution for appropriately distributing stopping power, and brake assist for extra stopping power when necessary. There’s also active trace control for better cornering, active engine braking for reducing wheel speed when necessary, and active ride control for controlling the engine and brakes to deliver a smoother ride. Other standard safety features include electronic vehicle stability control for keeping you on the intended driving path, traction control for maximizing tire contact with the road, hill start assist to ensure safe driving up a steep slope after shifting from park, and a rearview camera for flashing a video image to monitor your rear surroundings when shifting to reverse. Engine immobilization is on board as an anti-theft mechanism.
